The Open Access web-only journal "Phyloinformatics" seems to have disappeared, with the Internet address http://www.phyloinformatics.org now up for sale. This means the articles have just disappeared! There weren't many papers published, but some were interesting and have been cited in the mainstream literature. This also illustrates the problems with linking to digital resources using URLs, as opposed to identifiers such as DOIs. With the loss of the domain name, this journal has effectively died. Richards post and Napster keyword reminded me of a vague idea I had for some time to use P2P networks like bittorrent as an persitent storage space. You can read about it a bit more closely here: http://www.pywrapper.com/markus/blog/2006/using-bittorrent-as-a-persistent-… Don't take it as a real proposal, but I like the general idea if it. It might even have been done already within the GRID community. But it conveys the original internet idea of distributing resources and minimizing impact if a nodes gets lost. I've searched the PyWrapper website but I haven't found them, only those software requirements (pyXML, mxDateTime, etc) prior to the installation. These conversations on Taxacom and other lists are a good start, but we're not even scratching the surface of the full community (which extends well beyond taxonomists to include *all* consumers of taxonomic nomenclature). I guess I should have worded my response more carefully. It all appears to be available. However, I was able to download Rich's Taxonomer paper from two different versions of the archived site (the archive from the final version http://web.archive.org/web/20060503102100/www.phyloinformatics.org/archive.… and May 14, 2004). Sereno et al. does appear to have disappeared as it is not available from either http://web.archive.org/web/20060503102100/www.phyloinformatics.org/archive.… or http://web.archive.org/web/20051225220305/http://www.phyloinformatics.org/, the only two pages that I could find that it was referred to. I have only tested some of the other papers. It is quite unfortunate that the Internet Archive seems to have lost the one pdf. However, I don't think that the existence of Internet Archive should make us feel the slightest bit complacent about our own responsibility. As the zoological code requires a printed copy be placed in 5 major repositories (a far too subjective directive in my opinion) for new taxa, so we should take the responsibility of making sure that ANY papers that we publish on-line are so deposited (preferably printed on acid-free paper rather than on standard paper) in at least our own institution (preferably several). I suppose that will also mean that we need to pressure our librarians into accepting these "reprints" as real acquisitions, which some libraries, such as the Smithsonian do not. I certainly will have that conversation with my Smithsonian colleagues. In spite of all that, I do not for one moment believe that we should stop publishing in electronic journals. The community needs to consider what WE must do to guarantee open access to all our publications, data, etc, in all forms and in perpetuity. Cheers, Anna Anna L. Ramón, I am not sure what the reason is in your case. I would imagine it has to do with the choices. If more than one branch of a choce has mappings, Pywrapper tries to use the first one. In your case that's the "Text" one, for example SpeciesRecordCollaborators/Text. Could you try the model using sequences instead of chocies for a test? And can you send us the debug.log file too for your requests? By the way, in your models mapping section you have mapped the model structure to concepts defined by the same schema. We call this a canonical model and you can make your life easier by using the automapping="true" flag in the mapping section. Just like the canonical abcd model: http://rs.tdwg.org/tapir/cs/abcd2.06/model/abcd206.xml It maps every node of the schema to itself, using the namespace of the schema to create qualified concept ids.
