Dear TDWG Colleagues, The call for special sessions at the International Conference on Ecological Informatics (ICEI) 2018 <http://icei2018.uni-jena.de/> has been extended till 15th January 2018. The ICEI 2018 is inviting session proposals on aspects of Ecoinformatics and Computational Ecology such as, but not limited to- * Novel concepts and tools for the acquisition, management, analysis and synthesis of ecological data, including Genomic and Paleo-ecological data, * Understanding and modeling ecosystem functioning, Phenology and Evolution, * Informing decisions on environmental issues like sustainability, ecosystem services, climate change and biodiversity. This call for proposals aims to address key challenges that GBIF nodes in Asia have identified in connection with the mobilization and use of biodiversity data in the region. The total potential funding assigned to this call is approximately €105,000, and applicants may request a maximum of €15,000 through BIFA for each project. A reminder: this webinar will be held on December 13th 10:00am – 11:00am EST DCMI is pleased to announce a new webinar: "Save the Children Resource Libraries: Aligning Internal Technical Resource Libraries with a Public Distribution Website". Presented by Joseph Busch, Founder of Taxonomy Strategies ( http://taxonomystrategies.com), the webinar will discuss a recent project which has established an internal library of technical resources at the international *Save the Children* charity. Focussing on how this library has been aligned with the external Save the Children’s Resource Centre ( http://resourcecentre.savethechildren.se/), the webinar will describe how the project has "...reached consensus on how to accommodate and balance internal research and external communication requirements by developing a light-weight application profile." Dear colleagues, The 10th International Conference on Ecological Informatics (ICEI) from 24 - 28 September, 2018 in Jena, Germany under the theme /*'Translating Ecological Data into Knowledge and Decisions in a Rapidly Changing World'*/ will provide a forum to address this question - both from an ecological and a computer science point of view. We cordially invite special sessions on all aspects of eco-informatics and computational ecology including but not limited to: • Novel concepts and tools for the acquisition, management, analysis and synthesis of ecological data, including genomic and paleo-ecological data • Understanding and modeling ecosystem functioning, phenology and evolution • Informing decisions on environmental issues like sustainability, ecosystem services, climate change and biodiversity.
