Hi all, Tomorrow we were hoping to hear from Zach's colleague about the Field Museum example. Unfortunately, they will not be able to make it, so we are cancelling the meeting. However, I still have some homework for you! 😬 I would really appreciate your participation on the final steps before testing. Please let me know if you are keen on starting the conversation with them and being the liaison between this TG are the testing institution. Acting as a liaison would mean keeping up with their needs, questions, updates, etc. If this does not work for you remove your name from the list. When possible, suggest another external tester that you are more comfortable reaching out to. Hi all, Just wanted to let you know that I have completed all the amendments according to the discussions we had for the test dataset from Antarctic GBIF/OBIS. Would really appreciate it if someone could go through what I wrote under the section “Distribution of squid and fish in the pelagic zone of the Cosmonaut Sea and Prydz Bay region during the BROKE-West campaign<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ZglRfoQUGpsDm4t2M4B6Qif2IlbPvuBaRBeOi9x…>”. I hope I didn’t miss anything. I have also republished the updated the dataset under a “Test Organization” and registered it with the dev version of GBIF portal<https://www.gbif-uat.org/dataset/c60ec6f0-1089-4c1e-b25c-deb0a5a5c38b> so that you can have a look at it there if you like. Hi all, There is still quite some work to be done on the documentation <https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ZglRfoQUGpsDm4t2M4B6Qif2IlbPvuBaRBeOi9x…> and I could use our meeting time to work on it. I also know that some of you might not be able to make it to our meeting, so I suggest we cancel it. Unless there is a topic we need to discuss as a group I suggest we keep advancing on the documentation over email, is this ok? Below you can find some of the topics that are still unresolved and we could use some help: * Humboldt Extension Quick Reference Guide * Steve and John are working on it * can we agree to use the 6 Humboldt categories as pseudo-classes (not real classes but to organize the terms)? * Section Mapping data - A multi-layered approach needs some wrangling * Kate, Pete and I are working on improving the figure/table BUT more feedback is very welcome! * Example section * thanks to Ming we have a great and very complex example dataset using the extension, can somebody else contribute with an example? * Zach, I know you probably have a lot on your plate with the FM, do you think you would be able to add the rapid inventory example? I added a figure and I can help describing the case if needed, let me know! * General revision needed * We have been making some executive decisions to the document so it would be great if you can review it and share your thoughts! * Last looks: Formatting, homogenize concepts (eg. DwC vs DwC standard, inventory vs survey), figure numbers, etc We also need to make some decision on the testers. Hi all! Thanks everybody for your messages! What a crazy virus, it knocked me down for the first 3 days, now much better and ready to ratify Humboldt extension! lol! I would like to thank everybody who has been involved in testing the IPT and writing the documentation. It is looking great, and we are very close to finishing that up and start external testing. Should I add "identifiedBy" for absence data?

Hello, Maybe a silly question - should I add “identifiedBy” to absence data? The scientists specifically look for a species in the catch from the trawl and found none of them, so there are occurrence records with such species with occurrenceStatus == “absent”. If I have an event which only has absence data in occurrence extension, does it make sense to add “identifiedBy” for Humboldt Extension as well as those absence records in occurrence extension? How to fill in targetTaxonomicScope and targetLifeStageScope for targeted taxa with different life stage from the same event?

Hi all I am working on the dataset from Antarctic OBIS for the Humboldt Documentation. I encounter an issue: For all of the events (at that location, depth, with the sampling protocol and effort), the scientists were targeting: - myctophids - all life stages - paralepidids - larvae and juvenile How can I fill in the “targetTaxonomicScope" and “targetLifeStageScope" for each sampling event? Hi all, Sorry for the late reminder, tomorrow we will discuss how the Humboldt extension can accommodate a typical marine survey. Ming has mapped an OBIS dataset from Antarctic (you can find here<https://drive.google.com/drive/u/1/folders/17DXtMg-u1u78IF8d7mJsDOvxVNTU7_Ad>) using DwC and both Humboldt and Emof extensions. This could be a great example to incorporate in the documentation. It would be great to hear your thoughts on this exercise! See you tomorrow (or later for some!) Cheers, Yani
