If you're not familiar with the OGC/W3C Observation and Measurement(O&M)/Semantic Sensor Network (SSN)/Sensor, Observation, Sample, Actuator (SOSA) models, here's a great overview by Simon Cox, one of the principal instigators. https://youtu.be/BHBU5gYAmV4. It was presented to a soils information group, but the general stuff at the beginning is quite relevant for any environmental data. Well worth the time to watch. Stephen M.
