[tdwg-guid] RDF-TCS Location

Hi Peter

The TDWG Infrastructure Project is currently negotiating some support for
Species 2000 to deploy LSIDs. If things work out as hoped, we should see
some significant outcomes before TDWG 2007.

Cheers

Lee

Markus,

As far as I am aware SP2000 isn't doing anything with LSIDs as yet, seems
like a good idea for them to use them with the TDWG vocabs though.

The TDWG vocabs seem to do what we need, although we've yet to find a way of
doing vernaculars properly.

Does anyone know of an easy way to disable the caching in the Firefox LSID
browser without modifying the .xpi? It's a real pain having to constantly
delete the cache when you are developing against it.

Thanks, Peter.

Peter,
as far as I know from Roger the vocabulary for TaxonName and TaxonRank is
considered stable and is implemented by IPNI and others already, while
TaxonConcept is a bit more shaky. I am currently working on the Collection
and Institution vocabulary (NCD based). You can find all LSID Voc OWL files
here:

   http://rs.tdwg.org/ontology/voc/

The LSID vocabularies are also the most likely candidate for the EDIT
project so far - apart from maybe specimen and reference data.
Do you know if Species2000 is considering to make use of it?

best wishes

Markus
