I did spot one error in your version: Estuaries are coded 9, should be 9.10 as per http://www.iucnredlist.org/technical-documents/classification-schemes/habitats-classification-scheme-ver3 I think.

Otherwise looks suitable at first glance, I'll consider further over the next few days before making a decision.

Tony,
we have encoded the IUCN habitat classification into a definition suitable for dwc archives & GBIF tools:
http://rs.gbif.org/vocabulary/iucn/habitat.xml

If you ever decide to go for some other, simpler classification please let me know.
Id like to capture this as a "gbif" vocabulary.
