Programmer/Analyst Position, Tulane University Biodiversity Research Institute


The Tulane University Biodiversity Research Institute (TUBRI) is seeking a Software Programmer/Analyst to assist with a number of ongoing biodiversity informatics development projects.  Required qualifications for the position include: B.A. or B.S. degree in Biology, Computer Science, or related interdisciplinary areas; at three years of working experience in biodiversity informatics and/or software engineering; working knowledge of C# and Javascript programming languages; working knowledge of MS SQL Server; familiarity with JQuery & Openlayers frameworks/libraries; knowledge of Geographic Information Systems.  Preference will be given to applicants with the following additional credentials and skills: M.A or M.S. in Biodiversity Informatics, Computer Science and/or related fields; C/C++, Python and/or PHP programming languages; PostGreSQL/PostGIS database; 3D imaging and data processing; familiarity with biodiversity collections data; general knowledge of taxonomic nomenclature, practices and standards; past participation in funded research projects involving biodiversity informatics (e.g., NSF-ABI, ADBC, CISE programs, GBIF, etc.).
