What I want is to help developers using data. If our data will not correctly get displayed on a map we have an issue.
Could you just add derived coordinate properties (separate from Darwin Core) to your data? Then you could document these properties as "mappable as WGS84" and then your developers don't need to worry about underlying projection issue.
