CANCEL? - Humboldt Task Group Meeting Wed 1 JUNE 2022, 08:00 EST
Hi all,
There is still quite some work to be done on the documentation https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ZglRfoQUGpsDm4t2M4B6Qif2IlbPvuBaRBeOi9x1IHk/edit# and I could use our meeting time to work on it. I also know that some of you might not be able to make it to our meeting, so I suggest we cancel it. Unless there is a topic we need to discuss as a group I suggest we keep advancing on the documentation over email, is this ok?
Below you can find some of the topics that are still unresolved and we could use some help:
* Humboldt Extension Quick Reference Guide * Steve and John are working on it * can we agree to use the 6 Humboldt categories as pseudo-classes (not real classes but to organize the terms)? * Section Mapping data - A multi-layered approach needs some wrangling * Kate, Pete and I are working on improving the figure/table BUT more feedback is very welcome! * Example section * thanks to Ming we have a great and very complex example dataset using the extension, can somebody else contribute with an example? * Zach, I know you probably have a lot on your plate with the FM, do you think you would be able to add the rapid inventory example? I added a figure and I can help describing the case if needed, let me know! * General revision needed * We have been making some executive decisions to the document so it would be great if you can review it and share your thoughts! * Last looks: Formatting, homogenize concepts (eg. DwC vs DwC standard, inventory vs survey), figure numbers, etc
We also need to make some decision on the testers. See here https://docs.google.com/document/d/1cWWOw720Qw2eWOVRTeZSHD0eavt78KFB_b6vAH-UzCI/edit#heading=h.7a8nvnmmbavu the candidate list that we need to refine.
Hope this works for you, otherwise let me know!
cheers,
Yani

Hi everyone,
Apologies for my absence lately. Yes, it is ok with me if we cancel tomorrow's meeting. I can use this time to work on my homework for the example section.
Thanks! Zach

Thank you so much Yani!!
I have been amending my example dataset and I have a couple of questions:
- should I publish the dataset on the test IPT under a publishing organization so that it is registered to GBIF dev portal? Because I currently published ithttps://ipt.gbif.org/resource?r=brokewest-fish under “no organization” so it is not registered with GBIF (dev portal). If I should publish under an organization, which one should it be?
- There are actually many absence data (scientist looked for the specific species in the catch, but found none of them) that was not included in the dataset, but I don’t have the time to add all those data in. Is it okay for me to just add these absence occurrence records for 1 single trawl event as an example and put that in the documentation?
- The same issue for abundance data. Can I just add the abundance data for 1 event and document that in the documentation?
Thank you so much everyone for your hard work!!
Cheers Ming

Steve put the QRG together and I just made some adjustments live at
https://tdwg.github.io/hc/terms/. It is built with the two relevant real Darwin Core classes for organization at this point. I understand there has been a decision to arrange under fabricated classes to help people understand the context of the terms better. That may be Ok to help people review the extension, but it is a departure from how Darwin Core and its extensions are structured and maintained, so it may not be able to be maintained going into public review and ratification. As I understand it Steve agreed to hack the site to do this. If that is not the case, please let me know and I can do it. With the push I just made to the first_draft branch, it should be ready to make such changes.
