[Tdwg-img] Fwd: Image Annotation on the Semantic Web
A w3c article that sounded relevant to the image sub group - images and the semantic web http://www.w3.org/TR/2006/WD-swbp-image-annotation-20060322/. I received this from a semantic web mailing group that are currently in the process of setting up Sem Web/RDF standards for the Health care / Life science domain (public-semweb-lifesci@w3.org).

I wanted to bring this working draft to the attention of folks working on various HCLSIG Tasks:
http://www.w3.org/TR/2006/WD-swbp-image-annotation-20060322/
This could prove very useful regarding the proposed Brain Atlas work, as well as more general microscopy applications. They do not explicitly mention the Open Microscopy Environment (OME, http://www.openmicroscopy.org/), but it is probably relevant to them and us as well.
cheers, Eric

Yes,
http://www.w3.org/TR/2006/WD-swbp-image-annotation-20060322/
is very relevant, interesting, and important.
Actually, mentioned that link on http://wiki.cs.umb.edu/twiki/bin/view/TDWGImage/ImageLsidResolver yesterday. The w3c link leads to some VERY interesting documents especially about rationale and use cases, which have wider scope than just SW.
See also http://wiki.gbif.org/guidwiki/wikka.php?wakka=LSIDResolverForImages for the beginning of our LSID image resolver. Presumably we will be heavily influenced by the W3C document
