Thanks Tim and Kyle,
I have signed up to the IPT list, to which I will send any further questions, but thanks to your responses I have already worked out how to do what I wanted to do. Turns out that I did overlook something, namely that I needed to create multiple data sources within the same resource. Pretty obvious in hindsight.

Hi Niels,

The correct mailing list is the IPT list (http://lists.gbif.org/mailman/listinfo/ipt).  I suggest mailing that, providing as much information as possible - IPT version, the core and extensions you are using, the SQL statements you use etc.

The IPT does allows multiple mappings per source file which is a common practice, but you cannot map to an extension until you have mapped the core.  There are some workarounds there, such as creating a core with only the minimum fields, and then effectively mapping an extension in a 1:1 manner (rather than multiple rows per core record).

Cheers,
Tim

Dear all,
Not sure if this is appropriate use of this list, but I don't know where else to go. I was hoping I could prevail on someone to help me find out how to use extensions in the IPT provider for data from an SQL database, without creating duplicate rows in the core file or empty rows (apart from the core ID) in the extension file(s). I think I tried everything, but I must be overlooking something.

I found this, http://lists.gbif.org/pipermail/ipt/2013-October/000545.html, during my googling for an answer, which I think has the solution, but I can't work out how to implement it, as my IPT installation doesn't seem to let me create a mapping to just an extension and only lets me use one data mapping source for any resource.
